Championships Earned; Great Day For CYTF @ Houck Stadium on Sunday

Cape Youth Tackle Football celebrated their 30th season in style on Sunday under beautiful SE Missouri skies by playing four games at Houck Stadium and having two teams cap perfect seasons.

The Junior Division Dolphins, led by head coach Derrick Reddin, handily won their game over a scrappy Broncos team 38-0. The win completes a perfect season for the D0lphins, whose defense all year was as stout as their offense. Quarterback Drake Winschel was able to complete p[asses all over the field and Tyrus Reddin capped an amazing season running the catching the ball with numerous scores on Sunday.

Not to be outdone in the Senior Division, The Falcons too capped a perfect season with a 30-0 win over the Chargers. Quarterback Trent Leimer led a balanced attack and completed touchdown passes to Matthew Salter to assist in the victory.

In the consolation games on Sunday, The Cowboys (2-4) held off the Vikings (0-6) 20-13 to win the Junior League Consolation Game to start the day. Trenton Sandusky led a Cowboys offense by scoring and making key defensive plays throughout the game to hold off a Vikings rally late in the game. The Vikings, who scored their first points of the season on Sunday, were led by the running of Trenton Webber and the defense of Joshua Johnson, who returned a fumble for a touchdown.

In the days other game, the Bengals (3-3) came from behind to defeat the Chiefs (0-6) 24-6 to win the Senior League consolation game. QB Kinyon Hodges led a balanced Bengals offense with many rushing yards and scores. The Chiefs were led by the rushing of QB Cody Dubbs and RB Charles Mosley.

CYTF Championship Sunday is not just about the wins and losses for the teams, but a celebration of a long season that begins with conditioning camp in July for many of the players. Congratulations to all CYTF players, family members, and friends. We look forward to seeing you all again next year!
