CYTF Celebrates 30 Years!

This fall is CYTF's 30-year celebration. That's right.... 30 years of providing an opportunity for youth football in and around Cape Girardeau. Now, many of you had no interest in CYTF in 1980, but here is what was going on in 1980 (this will make you feel old):

  • "Who Shot JR????" Remember the show Dallas? :)
  • Hostages are freed from Iran
  • Mt. St. Helens erupts in Washington State
  • Ronald Reagan is elected the 40th President of the US
  • The Titannic wreckage is found in the North Atlantic
  • Georgia wins the NCAA Football championship and goes 12-0
  • the Pittsburgh Steelers defeat the LA Rams 30-19 (yes, those same Rams that now call St. Louis home) to win SuperBowl XIV
  • Pink Floyd, Queen, Michael Jackson, and Captain and Tennille all top the record charts.... (wow!)
  • Movies like Caddyshack, Airplane, and The Blues Brothers are released

One of the things we would like to do this fall is get some comments from the early folks of CYTF. If you know of someone who was involved years ago, played years ago, please have them contact us. We'd love to hear from you! Just send us an email at capeyouthfootball@gmail.com and we will reach out and do a profile on you and how it was years ago with CYTF! We'd also love to have some old photos sent to us. If you have some old photos you can send to us on-line from CYTF, please do so! Please provide the year and names of anyone involved!

Congrats CYTF on turning 30 this fall!!! :) -TV
